In honor of the birthday of one of America's most admired authors and illustrators, Theodor Seuss (Dr. Seuss) Geisel, March is celebrated as Reading Month to celebrate and promote the joys and the importance of reading across our state and nation
Why Reading is Important
- Reading plays a crucial role in our lives, stimulating our imaginations, expanding our knowledge of the world and each other, and helping us develop essential language skills
- Reading is associated with early childhood learning and development, as it helps children to learn sounds, words, and language, expand literacy skills, and develop the ability to focus, concentrate, socialize, and communicate
- Reading has long-lasting health benefits for individuals of all ages, including increased cognitive function, memory, empathy, and decreased levels of stress
We enourage you to read every day and commit yourself to the path of literacy and learning. In 2024 PFCU reached 1,462 students, sharing financial literacy and encouraging reading.
PFCU has published our very own book about the importance of youth banking and financial literacy, featuring our favorite youth mascot, Dollar Duck. We have also created free kids coloring pages - right from the book!
