4 Time Management Tips
Podcast Transcription
Hi everyone, it’s Morgan, a marketing intern here at PFCU! Today we are diving into something that is super important, no matter what stage of life you are in—Time management! Whether you are still in college (like me), working a job, just trying to balance everything in your life or all the above, it is important to know you’re not alone! I am here with some simple and effective tips to help you manage your time and keep your life running smoothly!
Let’s first start off by talking about why time management is so important. Everyone has a lot on their plate and everyone’s plate looks a little different. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed when you have so much on your mind. Time management is a life skill that can help you reduce stress, achieve your goals and focus on what truly matters! Let’s dive into some simpler tips that anyone can apply to their life when it comes to time management!
The first tip I have for you all today is to set deadlines and prioritize tasks! This is essential! A lot of times I feel like we think we must get everything done in one day but that’s often not the case. It’s important to step back and think about what needs to be done first or which tasks are more important than others. Creating a To-do list putting the more important tasks at the top is often helpful!
The next tip I have is don’t be afraid to say no! Trust me, I know this tip is hard, I hate having to tell people but sometimes in these situations you need to choose yourself! If you already have a lot of your plate and someone asks you to do something for them don’t be afraid to tell them, you have a lot of your plate right now and it’s probably best they ask someone else. Taking on too many commitments leads to stress, burnout, loss of motivation, decline in quality of work and overall negative effects on your mental health!
Another tip I have is to set SMART goals. SMART goals are goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely! When you have a lot to do it’s easy to lose motivation and become unhappy. Setting these smart goals helps you to stay on track and stay motivated.
The final tip I have for you is what I like to call the two-minute rule! This rule is when a task can be done in two minutes or less, do it immediately! By doing these short tasks immediately you avoid having smaller tasks like these build up and add more work to your workload!
Ultimately, the goal is to feel more in control of your time and have a healthier work-life balance. So don’t be afraid to say no, set those priorities, and most importantly, be kind to yourself along the way!
Thanks for listening!
